Campus and premises

On our campuses, there are several premises and spaces that you as a student can use freely. Group rooms for group work, open study places, computer rooms with a certain type of software and kitchens where you can heat up your lunch that you bring with you for instance.

Finding your way around our campuses

Opening hours for students

  • Monday to Friday from 05:30 to 22:00
  • Weekends and bank holidays from 06:30 to 22:00
  • The computer rooms are open between 07:00 and 22:00 every day.

As a student, you will need your MDU card and pin code to access our premises during the opening hours for students. You must never allow anyone entry who is not authorised and you must always be able to show your MDU card and confirm your identity when asked.

Open study places

In Eskilstuna there are several open places for studying, some have electrical and network outlets.

Group rooms

There are also group rooms that students can book free of charge.

Please keep in mind that:

  • you can book them 7 days ahead of time
  • you may book 2 sessions per day (4 hours) and a total of 8 sessions (16 hours)
  • if the room is not used 15 minutes after the booked time, then it is open for others to use. The 15-minute rule does not apply to group rooms that are booked for teaching
  • you must cancel the room if you are not going to use it
  • everyone in the room is responsible for keeping it clean and tidy.

Booking group rooms

Group rooms can be booked in KronoX, either online or directly in the mobile app. Log in with your student account and select the tab “Resource booking”.

Student kitchen

There are two kitchens you as a student can use to heat up food that you have brought with you. You will find the kitchens on Floors 1 and 3.

The Calm Room

The Calm Room is a space where students or employees can go to get a rest and some quiet time during the day. The room is open to everyone regardless of what faith or belief you have. It is essential that the Calm Room is perceived as a place for everyone. The room may not be booked for gatherings, it is open for everyone at all times of the day. You will find the Calm Room on Floor 3, room B3-007.

Computer rooms

As a student, you have access to several different computer rooms, depending on which School you belong to. You may use the rooms from Monday to Sunday from 07:00 to 22:00. To enter you will need your MDU card and code. Please keep in mind that some computer rooms may be booked for teaching.

The study environment

The study environment at the University is an important issue for everyone who spends time here, not least for you as a student. A great study environment will have a positive impact on you, for example, provide opportunities for a meaningful context, for learning and development.

Report injuries and accidents or give suggestions for improvement

To continually develop the University as a place for study and work, you must report if you are injured during your studies or were close to getting injured for example. To be able to work preventively, we gladly accept suggestions that can make the University an even better place to study.

Restaurants and coffee shops

The Verket Mat & Kaffe restaurant offers a good start to the day by providing rolls, juices, smoothies and freshly brewed coffee. At lunchtime, we offer a delicious buffet where you choose what you want to eat. Every day you can choose between new plant-based/vegetarian dishes and meat or fish dishes, home-baked bread and flavoursome spreads.

The study environment

Restaurants and coffee shops

Rosenhill restaurant

In the Rosenhill restaurant, you can choose between three different delicious lunches of which at least one is plant-based.

Prego Origo

In the cosy Prego Origo cafe you can relax with a tasty breakfast, coffee/tea or salad.

Travel free between Eskilstuna and Västerås

Students travel free on the buses between the campus cities of Eskilstuna and Västerås. This applies from Monday to Friday, on ordinary working days, during the autumn and spring semesters. The MDU card is used as a travel pass.
